The winners of the 2018 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, Europe’s top honour in the field, will present and discuss their outstanding heritage achievements during the Excellence Fair on 21 June at the Allianz Forum in Berlin. Organised by Europa Nostra with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, the Excellence Fair is among the main events of the European Cultural Heritage Summit that will be held in Berlin from 18-24 June.
High-level representatives from the European Commission and Europa Nostra will open the Excellence Fair. Up to 30 winners of the 2018 edition of the Awards from all over Europe will share their exemplary accomplishments in conservation, research, dedicated service, and education, training and awareness-raising. As a contribution to the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the heritage achievements recognised in 2018 will have a significant European dimension.
The Excellence Fair will take place both in the morning and afternoon of 21 June. A networking lunch will create an occasion for further discussion and feedback amongst the event’s participants.
The winners will receive the 2018 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards during a high-profile event in the evening of 22 June at the Berlin Congress Centre. The European Heritage Awards Ceremony will be co-hosted by Maestro Plácido Domingo, President of Europa Nostra, and Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport. The Ceremony will be honoured by the presence of His Excellency Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, in his capacity as the Patron of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in Germany, and top-level representatives from other EU Member States and European Union institutions.
The EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards is supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
